Beaches
There are many beautiful beaches within a five minute drive of Colonial Tweed. Coolangatta beach with its beautiful foreshore parks and restaurant / coffee shop precinct is a must place to spend time “kicking back”. Other local beaches are just as pleasant a place for relaxation. Kirra, Greenmount, Rainbow Bay and Duranbah have great waves and are extremely popular with local board riders and families.
Shopping
Tweed City Shopping Centre is just a few minutes drive from the park. It offers over eighty specialist stores all on one level with good parking, restaurants, cinemas and an amusement centre for the children.
Showcase On The Beach Coolangatta has over seventy specialist shops and boutiques, a library, gym, medical centre and cinemas. Showcase is located right on the beach at Coolangatta.
Robina Town Centre and Pacific Fair These major shopping centres are a short drive from our park. They offer major retailers such as David Jones, Myer, Big W, K Mart, Designer Label retailers and every retail outlet you are likely to need. Great undercover parking is also provided. Harbour Town Outlet Centre is a half hour drive but well worth it for the bargains that are to be found there all year round.
Club Life
Twin Towns Services Club. The largest Services club in Australia is located on the border of Tweed Heads and Coolangatta. The club offers an extensive entertainment programme year round as well as many bars and dining options.
Seagulls Club Offers guests a great variety of entertainment, bars and eating options.

Golf
Visitors are welcomed by the following local courses:
Coolangatta Tweed Heads Golf Club offers two championship 18 hole golf courses. The River course and the West course are both first class courses. The River Course is ranked in the top 25 public courses in Australia by Golf Australia magazine.
Club Banora is part of Twin Towns Services Club and offers an 18 hole championship golf course as well as six all weather tennis courts four bowls greens and an Olympic swimming pool and children’s leisure pool. The club also offers extensive entertainment and food services.
Murwillumbah Golf Club.
If you don’t mind a half hour drive this course is an absolute gem. Set in magnificent surroundings this great 18 hole lay out offers a country golfing experience that will simply delight you.
There is also a large number of world class golf resort courses spread throughout the Gold Coast. They welcome visitors.
Bowling
The Tweed Heads Bowls Club and South Tweed Heads Bowls club are less than five minutes drive from the park. As well as bowls they offer extensive range of entertainment, bars and dining options.
A Ten Pin bowling alley is available in Tweed Heads.
Croquet
The Coolangatta Croquet Club is located near Goodwin Park in Coolangatta. They offer two full sized lawns and a smaller lawn.
BUSH WALKING
The Mount Warning National Park (near Murwillumbah) features a wonderful rainforest walk to the peak of Mt. Warning (1,157m). This is the central core of Australia’s largest extinct volcano. The reward for your effort is a wonderful 360 degree view of the Tweed Valley from the coast to its magnificent rugged rim.
The Lamington National Park is located right behind the Gold Coast; it is a 20,500ha park that forms part of the McDonald Ranges. The closest access to the park is via Binna Burra. Lamington is renowned throughout Australia and the world for the size of the park, its unique flora and fauna and the sheer beauty of the mountains and rainforest. Short walks or full day hikes are available from Binna Burra or O’Reillys.

Enjoy the latest addition, the green challenge high ropes adventure course.
Olson’s Bird Gardens More than a thousand birds share several acres of aviaries with deer, emus and kangaroos. There is also a maze and rose gardens
Fleay’s Fauna Sanctuary here animals are displayed in surroundings similar to their native habitats. You can enjoy native animals and threatened species seldom seen in the wild. The programme of wildlife presentations is an ideal way to learn about Queensland’s unique native mammals, birds and reptiles.
Nearby Towns & Villages
BYRON BAY This unique coastal town vibrates with youth and cultural diversity. The town is located on Australia’s most easterly point and is set on beautiful beaches and headlands and unspoiled natural hinterland. The Byron and Bangalow markets are a must visit. The town also hosts a number of wonderful festivals and major events throughout the year. This is a party town attracting huge numbers of international backpackers each year.
Kingscliff is a beautiful coastal village just ten minutes drive from Colonial Tweed. The town is laid back with many cafes, great beaches and hinterland.
